Blending Mode Panel update

Postby Mike Hale » Tue Aug 11, 2009 8:49 am

Jack Nack posted this link on his blog http://lcdlagtester.googlepages.com/blendingmodepanel and commented 'Doesn't work with multiple selected layers at once, though; rats'

I was unable to contact the panels creator so I updated the panel to work with multiple layers.

There is one odd behavior. When you select more than one layer the blend mode grays out and shows a normal blend mode regardless of the selected layers modes. Because of that you will not see the mode change in the layers panel when you use this with more than one selected layer. The image will show the mode change.

Another point to note. Because the modes are set by a script, if no layers are selected the top most layer is used. Similar to the way activeDocument behaves.

It's a configurator panel. If you configurator installed just unzip and double click to install. If not you can find it at http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/configurator/

I made the panel. Nice that you found the new document descriptor key with the list of selected layer indexes. That will help with some other scripts I was working on too. (Applying filters to multiple selected layers) The old method was just too slow for the files I work with.

I also made a Flex version of my panel that looks just like the existing drop down list. It looks a bit cleaner than the button version. I'll try to upload it later.

I'm glad you like it.

I did ask John Nack for your contact info so the I could either give you my code or your ok to update the panel but he said that he no longer had it.
